AUDE GORGES

A country of gorges and parades

Saint Georges Gorges

Over the millennia, the waves of the Aude have carved spectacular gorges in the limestone of the Pyrenean foothills.

The gorges of Saint Georges, upstream from Axat, are the narrowest part of the Haute Vallée de l'Aude. Here, the river has carved the rock into a canyon more than 300 meters deep whose walls are only 20 meters apart in places.

You can discover them by rafting or hydrospeed.

The Parade of the Pierre Lys

Over the millennia, the Aude has carved spectacular gorges in the limestone of the Pyrenean foothills.

The waters of the Aude gutted the powerful layers of marine sediment and gave birth to a vertiginous canyon more than two kilometers long.

Rafting experience

From the Gorges of St Georges or Axat, you can discover the Pierre Lys by sailing in the Aude river! An intense moment in emotions.

Rebenty Gorges

It is upstream from the village of Joucou that Rébenty had to make his way through a huge boulder to give birth to wild and spectacular gorges. If the water had been able to pass, it was not the same for the men who, among these escarpments could only take a small path located on the right bank. It was necessary to pierce the rock on the left bank to open the parade. a superb road to discover!
